Endodontologie

Endodontologie is dat onderdeel van de tandheelkunde dat zich bezighoudt met de diagnostiek, preventie en behandeling van ziekten van de pulpa. In ieder gebitselement bevindt zich een pulpa, dit is levend weefsel dat bestaat uit zenuwvezels en bloedvaatjes. Een endodontoloog heeft zich gespecialiseerd in het uitvoeren van endodontische behandelingen.

Tongriem en lipband

Gebitsslijtage

Gebitsslijtage ontstaat door verlies van tandweefsel door oorzaken anders dan cariës (gaatjes, tandbederf). Het komt bij iedereen voor en is in de loop van de tijd bij iedereen waarneembaar (normale, fysiologische slijtage). Soms verloopt de slijtage echter sneller dan normaal (pathologische slijtage). De tanden en kiezen worden dan steeds korter.

Kindertandheelkunde

Kindertandarts (pedodontoloog). Jannetje Berendsen is als erkend tandarts-pedodontoloog gespecialiseerd in kindertandheelkunde. De kindertandarts richt zich op extreem bange kinderen, maar bijvoorbeeld ook op kinderen met erg veel gaatjes die nog te jong zijn om uitgebreid behandeld te worden en kinderen met gedragsproblemen. Daarnaast richt de kindertandarts zicht op kinderen met lichamelijke of verstandelijke beperkingen en kinderen met medische problematiek.

Implantologie

Een tandheelkundig implantaat is een titanium schroef dat dient als vervanging van het wortelgedeelte van een tand of kies. Het implantaat wordt geplaatst in het bot van de boven- of onderkaak, waarna het in het bot moet vastgroeien en kan dienen als verankering voor de kroon van de nieuwe tand of kies, of voor uw prothese.

Eén van de mogelijke behandelingen bij snurken en slaapapneu zijn een soort kunststof beugels die ’s nachts over de tanden worden geplaatst. Hierbij wordt de onderkaak iets naar voren geduwd of getrokken. Hierdoor wordt de luchtpijp verder geopend, zodat het gedeeltelijk verstoren van de luchtstroom bij het snurken of het volledig verstoren van de luchtstroom bij slaapapneu wordt opgeheven.
